La Purisima Mission

Last Friday, I had the chance to go with Peter on his field trip to La Purisima Mission in Lompoc. My friend and I decided to take our first graders out of school and bring them along because I honestly don't know if there will be money in the budget for field trips when Sam is older. I drove with my friend and our younger kids while our 4th graders went on the bus with their class. This is Peter's teacher, Mrs. Duvick.
Halfway there we stopped at a park for a bathroom break. Sam and Elijah had fun on the playground. Peter and his friends were "too cool" to play on "baby" toys!

Peter and Ben on the bus

Sam wanted to see what it looked like on the bus.

About five miles before we get there, I hear thud! Thud, thud, thud, thud... and see a piece of my tire fall onto the street! I make to the mission and then while the kids are getting instructions on where to go and what to do, I call roadside assistance and have them come and change my tire.

This is where a piece of tread came off my tire

This is the nice guy who came out and fixed it for me!
Within 1/2 an hour I had my spare tire put on and was ready to go and enjoy my day! It was great how easily it all work out, especially when I know how bad it could have been.

Peter!

Our group.

Sam is in jail!

learning how to dye wool.

Sam and Elijah on the corn mill.

Learning how to make tortillas, yum!

First you roll it...

Then you pat it....

and fix the cracks...

and then enjoy!

So yummy!

Inside the main church. The walls were painted blue and pink!

looks like a mission!

The boys in the fire door of the big oven.

Peter and Sam in the washing hole.

Yes, that is a real bull! The boys were able to feed it and it even licked Sam's arm!

Sam running on some Indian ruins.

On a pretty bridge.

My cute boy.

Sam and Ben found a secret trap door buried in the ground.

Peter liked this sun dial, can you tell what time it is?

They also liked this fountain.

Inside an Indian hut.

Outside the hut.

Sam found a "secret" picnic table under this tree.

All of us! I love how Peter and Ben are sharing some joke.
