Christmas trip to Disneyland Monday Dec. 23rd 2013!

These next few posts are going to be more of a travel journal of our trip to Disneyland.  When Mark and I were asking the boys what they want for Christmas, they really didn't have anything that they really wanted so Mark and I thought about doing a trip instead.  We thought about renting a cabin up in Yosemite, of staying at the beach somewhere, but Disney won out.  I've been at Disneyland on the 4th of July and on New Year's Eve, but not on Christmas Day.  I was a little worried that not spending Christmas at home with our traditions would be weird and that it would feel like we missed Christmas!  But we decided to to give it a try and are so glad we did!  Mark and I told the boys that we are going to be at Disneyland the 23rd and the 24th and on Christmas Morning we would spend a few hours at Downtown Disney before we headed home to spend Christmas with the family.  What we really did was get 3 day passes and surprised them on Christmas morning, it was so much fun!
So here is Monday morning and the start of our wonderfully, magical, supercalifragilistic, Christmas trip to Disneyland, The Happiest Place On Earth!

We left Bakersfield around 3 AM and had a very fast trip down to Anaheim.  We had breakfast at McDonalds and then headed to the parks!  We got to the gates around 7:30 and were the 5th family from the front.  They opened the gates about 10 minutes early!  Once on Main Street, the boys and I went to the lockers while Mark got fast passes for Star Tours then we met up at Space Mountain for our first ride of the trip.

Us waiting for the tram to take us to the front gates.

The boys in line for Space Mountain

This was Adam's first time being here and being 40 inches tall so this was his first time riding most of the big rides.  the look on his face is priceless!

After Space, Mark went to get fast passes for Indiana Jones while I took the boys to ride the Astro Orbiter. Adam enjoyed controlling how high we went.

After Orbiting around Tomorrowland, we met back up with Mark to go on Star Tours.  we haven't been here since they redid it so it was lots of fun for all of us!

After Star Tours, we headed over to the West Side of the park.  While passing Pirates we noticed that there was no line!  we hopped in the queue and quickly boarded our boat for a trip through the Caribbean.   This picture is of us in our boat.   The boys then ran through Tarzan's Treehouse before we went to visit Jack Skellington.

The Handy's and Jack!

Awesome decorations

Splash Mountain was next, again no line, we waited about 5 minutes.

After Splash, we met up with our friends the Ballards!  We went on the Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones with them...I don't know why I didn't take any pictures during this time.  I must have been too busy visiting!

After Indiana Jones, we stopped at the restrooms.  Notice anything different in this picture?  Being the only girl in the family, I'm use to going by myself and having all the guys waiting for me, no matter how fast I am!  This time, I hurried as usual and looked around for my guys.  When I didn't see them, I finally noticed that there is a HUGE line for the men's restroom and NOT one for the women's!  Sam finally came out and told me that is was crazy busy in there...congratulations Sam, you just discovered a little bit of what its like to be a girl!

After that funny experience, we headed over to California Adventure.  Of course all the fast passes for Radiator Racers were done at this time, but Peter and Sam went with the Ballards in the single rider line.  Adam was not tall enough for the single rider so Mark and I spent some time with him.

I really tried to get him to buy this hat!  For some reason he didn't want to.

Adam watching Mater and Lighting McQueen.

Adam and Mater.

My cute boy!

I can not believe how much this looks like the movie!

Adam got to meet Lighting McQueen!

We also had time to ride Mater's Junkyard Jamboree.  It was a cute attraction.

We then met back up with the Ballards and Peter and Sam to watch It's Tough to be a Bug.  And yes I had my eyes shut tight when the Black Widows attacked!

Waiting to see It's Tough to be a Bug

After the show we went to eat lunch at Taste Pilot's Grill.  We like the hamburgers here and the toppings bar! After lunch we got fast passes for Soarin' and then went to ride Tower of Terror.

Inside the Hollywood Hotel

a very fun ride!

After TOT, we rode the Little Mermaid and then used our fastpasses for Soarin'

The boys in  line for Soarin'

After Soarin' we went to ride Screamin'.  Adam is not tall enough to ride so while everyone else went, Adam and I rode on the carousel.

Adam is so cute!

After Screamin', we headed back over to Disneyland to ride Star Tours again and then we ate dinner at the Plaza Inn where we had excellent seats for the fireworks.  We had a nice dinner, but the winds were too high so the fireworks were canceled.  Bummer!
After a quick spin on Space Mountain, we went on It's A Small World.  This attraction is so pretty at night!

The holiday overlay is so cute and really feels like Christmas!

After Small World, the Ballards headed back to the hotel and we went to spin on the tea cups!

Spin super fast!

The pretty tree on Main Street.

Watching the Christmas Parade.

Main St. train station.

After the parade, we headed back over to Tomorrowland to ride the Monorail back to the hotel for the night.
