Iowa trip day 4 Des Moines 7-28-14

Our First day in Des Moines!  Peter had to run the qualifier for the 800 today so as soon as we were ready this morning, we headed to Drake Stadium.  While Mark was getting Peter checked in and warmed up, Sam and Adam helped me find a place to sit.  It took awhile until Peter's race so we had to occupy ourselves my playing with the camera.

The stadium where we spent a good part of the week!

Pretty clouds

a few quiet moments before the gun goes off

Runners take your mark, ready, GO!  Look at Peter's face, he is all over this race!

There goes my baby!

Finishing his first lap, leader of the pack

Peter finishing his race in First place! Now on to the finals on Wed.

After the race, we headed back to the campground on Raccoon River to relax and to explore.  Mark and I went for a walk with the boys down to the river.  This path is right next to our campsite and was so pretty, especially at dusk when the fireflies came out!  I've never seen a firefly and was very enthralled with them!

Later that night we grilled some steaks then roasted S'mores and watched the movie RV on the TV my dad mounted outside the camper.

We now know why its called Raccoon River!  These guys are so cute!

Watching a fun camping movie!
