Iowa trip day 7 Thursday July 31st 2014- Nauvoo!

Iowa trip Day 7 July 31st- Nauvoo!
This was such an amazing day!  We started the day with a three hour drive from Des Moines to Carthage to see Carthage Jail.  This place is just amazing.

Going up to the cell room where Joseph Smith was first held.

In the cell

Mom, Dad, and Jason

The owner thought that Joseph and Hyrum would be more comfortable in the bedroom so they were moved.  To see this room and the window that Joseph fell from was very moving.  I do have a funny story to share.  When the sister missionary was sharing the peaceful moments before the mob came, she then played a recording of John Taylor singing  A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief, my mom's cell phone goes off with a super annoying loud ring tone.  She was mortified and could not get out of that room fast enough!

We are defiantly NOT in CA!

On the way to Nauvoo, we stopped along the Mississippi River.

This is one of my favorite monuments of all time!

This little log cabin houses a museum with Mark's Uncle Don's collection.

We finally made it up to the temple!

cute!

We stopped here for Navajo tacos to eat while we waited for the Nauvoo pageant to start.

waiting for the pageant!
We had an amazing time here and we able to see so much stuff that we have learned about.  We were very glad to see it in real life.  Adam still talks about the temple show.  It was definitely a testimony builder!
