Iowa trip day 14 Thursday Aug 7th 2014- Yellowstone

It was really hard to leave the Black Hills this morning, I think that besides Disney, this is the best vacation spot in the US.  I love it here!  The only thing that made leaving bearable was knowing that we were headed to Yellowstone!

The boys and I on our way

R2 has been great!

These next few pictures are of the scenery we saw while driving.  I thought it was really pretty.  Just past Sheridan WY,  we went through Bighorn National forest.  The east side going in was very green with lots of trees.

The west side coming out of the mountain range was a lot more sparse and dry.  My dad watches a lot of old westerns and the boys sometimes watch them with him.  Peter said that this place looks like a cowboy movie and he could just imagine Indians living in these bluffs.

A very welcome sign after driving all day.

Yay, more rain!

We saw some cute animals once inside the park.  We also saw a Grizzly Bear, but the park rangers would not let us stop to take pictures.

After setting up the campsite, we headed out to see Old Faithful.  We waited about 20 minutes before the next "show".

The boys were not very impressed, I may have hyped it up a tad too much to them... plus we were cold, tired, and hungry, NOT a good combination!  After the geyser went off, we headed back to the lodge for some shopping and dinner.  I had some really good buffalo chili that night!
